n summer 2020, NMNEC Leadership Council approved a pilot for a policy on how to calculate and report simulation hours as clinical substitution.
The draft policy was piloted by NMNEC programs in summer/fall 2020. NMNEC programs were then surveyed for their feedback on the draft policy spring 2021. The feedback was very positive with only a couple of suggestions made for revision: 1) have as guidelines rather than policy; and 2) build in flexibility for programs researching implementing using a 2:1 simulation to clinical hours ratio for some simulation scenarios. The feedback was incorporated into an updated NMNEC Guidelines on Calculating and Reporting Simulation Hours as Clinical Substitution document. This document is now available to NMNEC faculty on the NMNEC website through Faculty Log In/Policies and Procedures.
