Become a Nurse
NMNEC has created a common nursing curriculum throughout the state that allows you to choose one of three options to earn your undergraduate nursing degree:
- BSN (baccalaureate of science in nursing) at a university
- ADN (associate degree in nursing) at a community college
- Co-enrolled ADN – BSN program at a community college in partnership with a university
All students seeking admission to a NMNEC program must meet requirements for admission to the home institution (community college or university) to which they are applying. Community college students seeking the co-enrolled ADN – BSN degree option must meet university admission requirements and BSN prerequisites of the partnering university.
What courses are required for nursing school at NMNEC nursing programs?
To Be Considered for Acceptance into a NMNEC nursing program
The applicant must:
- Submit a complete application and required academic records by the deadline date to the nursing program(s).
- Successfully complete all required pre-requisite courses with a grade of “C” or better before the beginning of the semester/term admitted to the nursing program(s).
- Achieve a 2.75 grade point average or higher for completed prerequisite courses/credits.
- Students must also be in good standing and meet the minimum academic requirements of the institution(s) for which they are applying.
- Achieve the national recommended cut score on the entrance exam required by the nursing program (ATI TEAS, HESI A2, or Kaplan Admission Test)
